Say NO to Nicor's $321 Million Rate-hike Request
Nicor is asking the Illinois Commerce Commission (ICC) for a $321 million rate hike, what would be one of the largest gas increases in state history.

Dear Illinois Commerce Commission (ICC Docket # 23-0066):
Please reject Nicor's $321 million rate-hike request.
- Customers are paying historically high gas bills–and this increase would jack up bills by an average of more than $9 a month.
- This would be one of the largest gas rate hikes in history. It's the fourth rate-hike request Nicor has asked for since 2017. Each time, Nicor has set a record for the highest increase the utility has ever received.
- As Nicor's parent company rakes in billions of dollars a year, customers have seen their delivery rates increase by about 77 percent, or $500 million, in the last five years.
Now, Nicor is back at the table asking for another painful rate hike from its customers. Please...
- Stand up for customers and tell Nicor NO.
- Work to develop strong policy to help Illinois consumers transition to cleaner and more affordable energy sources. There are better ways to heat our homes--and Illinois has all the tools it needs to give consumers better access to these alternatives.
